These Birthday present projects are now
becoming very popular, and with very critical
timescales.
A call came in to our office late one
afternoon in November asking if we had a restored Massey Ferguson 35 or
35X to be ready by 27th December, the direct answer was no,
but after quick thinking and wanting to help a prospective customer
I looked at our projects we had on the go, and the time it
would take to get one ready by the required date, it was
possible we could help as we had a 1960 Massey Ferguson 35 3
cylinder in the corner of the workshop already stripped down
and sandblasted.
We made contact with the customer and a
deal was set, the work went ahead at full speed with strict
time schedules, but bad weather set in and we encountered
delays in obtaining some parts that we did not have in stock,
our suppliers made every effort to get parts to us, so thanks
to Sparex, Vapormatic and QTP, the next problem was the paint
and getting it to dry quickly, so we came up with using a
quick dry acrylic purchased locally, with lots of heaters on
we got the paint to dry without causing any delays, nearing
completion we had just seven days left to finish off the
tractor and deliver it, the customer came from Essex so could
not just pop in to take a look, but managed to pay us two
visits, the last one being the Saturday before Christmas,
giving us his final requirements, with just four working days
left to finish off the tractor we made it and delivered it on
Christmas Eve.
